A little about my spinning journey
Â
I started my spinning journey with dance trapeze over 10 years ago. Shortly after I graduated circus school I found myself asking what's next? Where do I want to take my practice?
At the time there weren’t really any coaches teaching spinning on trapeze. But I was fortunate to work with Tanya Burka (an amazing hoop artist) who got me started and helped me translate some hoop spinning to trapeze.
After that it was a journey of my own. I spent years exploring, making friends with other spin enthusiasts (usually hoop aerialist), playing together and trying out new ideas.Â
During that time, I discovered that dance trapeze has its own unique way of moving. It’s different from spinning on a hoop or straps—it's its own beast when it comes to spins. I fell in love with the process of completely relearning how to move on trapeze while spinning. It’s a dance; you’re not in total control. You have to let go, release, and allow yourself to be carried by the spin. You follow where it leads, and if you do, you may be rewarded with some of the most spontaneous and fun pathways—movements you never thought possible for your body.
This is why I love dance trapeze and teaching spinning.
It’s so much more than just pushing off the floor to generate a spin or holding pretty shapes while spinning in a circle.
It’s an art form.
It’s a dance between you and the trapeze.
What level is it for?
Is it only for Trapeze?
How long do I have access for?
What if I get really dizzy spinning?
